2. Intended Users and Required Expertise
EDC16Reader is intended exclusively for technically qualified users with sufficient professional knowledge and practical experience in automotive electronics, ECU systems, diagnostic procedures, and related technical work.
Any work involving ECUs, vehicle electronics, firmware, calibration data, flashing procedures, coding, or other potentially safety-relevant vehicle systems may only be carried out by persons with adequate professional qualifications.
Such work should only be performed by a trained automotive professional, ideally a master automotive technician (Kfz-Meister) or an equivalently qualified professional.
The Service is not intended for untrained consumers or persons without the required technical expertise. If you do not have the necessary qualifications and knowledge, you must not use the Service for work on vehicles, ECUs, or related systems.
3. Purpose of the Service
EDC16Reader is intended for reading, analyzing, and processing ECU-related technical data. The Service is provided for technical and diagnostic purposes, software analysis, compatibility analysis, and related development purposes only.
4. No Professional, Workshop, or Safety Guarantee
The Service does not constitute certified workshop services, repair services, engineering certification, legal advice, or any safety guarantee for vehicles, ECUs, firmware, calibration data, or related hardware.
The Service is not guaranteed to be suitable for any specific vehicle, ECU, firmware version, hardware adapter, or user purpose.
5. Permitted Use
You may use the Service only in compliance with applicable law and these Terms of Use.
- Use the Service only for lawful purposes
- Use the Service only on vehicles, ECUs, systems, and data that you are authorized to access and use
- Verify compatibility before using any function on a vehicle or ECU
- Create complete backups before performing operations that may alter or affect technical data or system behavior
- Ensure that all work performed using the Service is lawful and technically appropriate

8. Legal Exceptions
The restrictions in these Terms of Use apply except to the extent that mandatory applicable law expressly permits certain acts without prior consent.
9. Technical Risk and User Responsibility
Work involving vehicle electronics, ECUs, firmware, calibration data, coding, flashing, and diagnostic interfaces can cause malfunctions, loss of functionality, startup problems, communication failures, data corruption, safety issues, or vehicle damage.
You are solely responsible for ensuring that:
- the Service is suitable for your intended use, vehicle, ECU, and hardware setup,
- you possess the required technical knowledge and professional qualifications,
- you use compatible tools, software versions, and adapters,
- you create appropriate backups before performing risky or write-related operations, and
- you do not use the Service in situations where errors could create unacceptable safety risks.
10. Use at Your Own Risk
The Service is used entirely at your own risk.
Any action taken on a vehicle, ECU, firmware, calibration dataset, or related hardware on the basis of information, functions, output, interpretation, or technical results obtained from the Service is performed solely under your own responsibility.
11. No Warranty
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
In particular, no warranty is given that the Service is uninterrupted, error-free, secure, complete, accurate, reliable, suitable for a particular purpose, or compatible with any specific vehicle, ECU, firmware version, software version, or third-party hardware.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the operator shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, technical, economic, or other damage arising out of or in connection with the use of, misuse of, inability to use, or reliance on the Service.
This includes, in particular, but is not limited to:
- vehicle damage,
- ECU malfunction or failure,
- firmware corruption,
- loss of data,
- communication failures,
- incompatibilities,
- startup problems,
- loss of functionality,
- downtime,
- financial loss,
- indirect business loss, and
- damage caused by incorrect use, insufficient expertise, incompatible hardware or software, or misinterpretation of technical data.
However, this exclusion and limitation of liability does not apply where liability cannot be excluded under mandatory applicable law, including liability arising from intentional misconduct, gross negligence, or injury to life, body, or health.
13. No Assumption of Responsibility for Vehicle Work
The operator does not assume responsibility for any repair, diagnosis, coding, flashing, calibration, modification, testing, or other work performed on a vehicle, ECU, or related system using or based on the Service.
Responsibility for the legality, safety, technical correctness, and consequences of such work remains solely with the user.
